Where history is not read in the pages of books, but in front of people who are bleeding, where hands are not only those of knowledge and pen but also those of pain, the Awakening Medals make history:
The “Awakening Medal” campaign was formed with the aim of supporting and declaring spiritual and moral solidarity with the oppressed people of Gaza and paying a humane and responsible tribute to the activists and supporters of the resistance movement at the international level.
In this movement, a group of pained and concerned elites and medalists of science Olympiads, by donating their medals, honors and scientific achievements, as a symbol of the most valuable achievements of their scientific and professional lives, declare their support for the legitimacy of the resistance of the people of Gaza and their resistance against the cruelty and crimes of the child-killing Zionist regime. This movement is a result of the elites’ deep belief in their social and human responsibility and is a spontaneous movement that arises from the depths of the awakened conscience of the Iranian elite society, which, with a historical understanding of the present era, gives meaning to its mission towards humanity. Science and honor find meaning when they serve justice, humanity, and resistance to oppression, and now, these medals and honors must become weapons against oppression and bright shields for the defenseless oppressed.
This time, the medals are hung around the necks of people who are shouting “resistance” in today’s world. This movement is a crystallization of the elites’ critical view of the common and decadent attitude of the Western world towards the relationship between expertise, knowledge, and social responsibility. Here, “science for science’s sake” and “knowledge disconnected from the global life of humanity” have no meaning. With this oppression and darkness inflicted on children whose only sin is “being”, can we still engage in knowledge and specialization that has blinded us to the world around us? Unlike the global system of knowledge, which often serves dominant discourses and serves to produce and increase oppression and inequality, any scientific knowledge, when separated from the concrete circle of the human lifeworld, will undoubtedly cause “academic alienation.”
This movement views scientific medals not as individual badges but as social capital that must be used in the noble line of fighting against oppression and defending the oppressed. Unlike the global system of knowledge, which often serves dominant discourses and serves to produce and increase oppression and inequality, any scientific knowledge, when separated from the concrete circle of the human lifeworld, will undoubtedly cause “academic alienation.” This movement views academic medals not as individual badges but as social assets that should be used in the noble line of fighting against oppression and defending the oppressed.
The “Awakening Medal” campaign, relying on Principles 3 and 154 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the promotion of justice and support for the struggle of the oppressed in the world, and in line with international conventions on the rights of the child, Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, based on the equality of all human beings, Security Council Resolution 2728, and the Islamic Charter of Human Rights, while declaring its innocence of the crimes of the Zionist regime, emphasizes the need for the awakening of the global conscience and the synergy of the elite in supporting the oppressed in the world. At the next level, the intention is to make maximum use of the capacities of this insightful action in various media and cultural formats, and to demonstrate the unity of the elite movement with the awakened and freedom-loving people of the world.
Certainly, the great capacity of the world’s elites will be able to help the oppressed Gaza in the media, legal, political and economic dimensions. Therefore, considering the serious responsibility of the people of knowledge towards the political and social application of science, as well as emphasizing the cross-border and human solidarity of experts and elites, this movement calls on its companions on a global scale and from among all the activists and helpers of Gaza.
